Vikki Walton is a Senior Principal and Health Equity Leader in the MercerWELL practice based out of the Chicago Office. She leads the Health Equity Center of Excellence, working alongside a team of subject matter experts to drive advancements in Health Equity within employer benefits. This includes working with clients to develop a comprehensive solution-based approach assessing inclusive benefits, removing barriers to access, ensuring quality care, and addressing social determinants of health(SDoH), all leading to improved health outcomes for employees.
Vikki recently joined Mercer with over 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, where she advised US business and commercial leaders on the dynamic policy and political environmental impacts of health inequities and ESG policies. She successfully developed and executed the first-of-its-kind Health Equity Policy Platform for US Public Affairs. The policy platforms are focused on sustainable principles and measurable outcomes for populations impacted by health disparities led by the SDoH. She also created and implemented a multi-year strategic roadmap on Health Equity and ESG policies to support business objectives. The roadmap included leading internal cross-functional collaborations to shape the healthcare environment while ensuring equitable and quality healthcare. Vikki’s expertise also includes developing State Medicaid and payer Health Equity strategies.
Vikki has led numerous corporate DEI efforts, is an award-winning national healthcare speaker, and serves on a host of boards and committees in her community focused on marginalized communities.
Vikki earned a MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN and her BBA from Howard University, Washington, DC. She also has a High-Performance Leadership Certification from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.
Michael Steinberg has worked at Chevron since 2008 and is currently Team Lead, Global Public Health and Special Projects, Health & Medical, working out of the company’s headquarters in San Ramon, California. Michael oversees various health projects and programs that support the health needs of the company’s 38,000 plus employees as well as communities the company operates in.  Â
Michael began his career at Chevron as Health and Productivity Advisor where he supported preventive and population health management initiatives, national health events, wellness facilities, disease intervention programs and capacity building across the enterprise. Over the years, he has been progressively promoted and resided on projects that range from business process optimization, health metrics, human performance, strategic partnerships, facility design, social investment, community health risk assessment and disease prevention program design and implementation.     Â
Michael previously completed a twenty-month assignment in Chevron’s Angola medical department where he developed and implemented a sustainable integrated wellness strategy, business plans and processes. He also served on the enterprise Corporate Pandemic Response Team and continues to support pandemic/epidemic preparedness and response initiatives. His role continues to provide consultation to global operations and organizations on public health risk/threat assessments, program optimization, health communications, community partnerships and social investment.Â
He graduated with a kinesiology/exercise physiology major and holds a Master of Management/Business from the University of San Francisco. He previously worked at one of the most prestigious private clubs in the world, The Pacific-Union Club in San Francisco, where in his health management role engaged daily with global business and government leaders. He has served on several boards and committees including Chevron Recreation, Plasma Science and Positive Resource Center; and as Chairman of the Chevron Health, Environment and Safety Committee as well as on various internal and external health, safety, community, and non-profit teams as co-chair, governance member, lead and/or consultant.
Mario Harper is a purpose-driven, servant leader with over 10 years of experience in Business Development, Program Management, and Advocacy in medical devices, HIV care and diagnostics.
He most recently served as the Director of Enterprise Business Development Molecular Testing Labs, a pioneer in the space of PrEP/HIV testing. Prior to that, he served as a 340B Healthcare Senior Account Executive for Avita Pharmacy, where he worked with nearly 40 Ryan White and STI clinics providing consultative program support aimed at reducing gaps in access to healthcare, ending the AIDS epidemic, empowering sexual wellness & educating underserved populations who are most at risk for HIV and STI transmission.
A Certified Professional Coach, Mario attended The Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) and completed his undergraduate studies in Communications at LSU.
He is also a proud board member of the National Sales Network (NSN) and ACE TeleHelp Services.
Jay Bhatt, D.O., MPH, MPA, is a physician executive, internist, and public health innovator. As Managing Director of the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions (DCHS) and the Deloitte Health Equity Institute (DHEI), Dr. Bhatt directs the research agenda across the life sciences and health care industry leading to actionable insights for executives and their teams. Dr. Bhatt also drives high-impact collaborations and investments to influence key decision-makers, address place-based inequities, and innovate to advance health equity. He also serves on the Deloitte Purpose Office leadership team. He is a prominent thought leader on the issues of population health, health equity, health care transformation, public health, and digital health. Passionate about patient care, Dr. Bhatt practices medicine for the historically underserved while serving in his leadership role at Deloitte.
Before joining Deloitte, Dr. Bhatt was senior vice president and chief medical officer (CMO) at the American Hospital Association. While there, in addition to his role as CMO, he served as president of the Health Research and Educational Trust and helped lead the Institute for Diversity and Health Equity. His early work in health care involved practicing primary care at Erie Family Health Center, on faculty at Northwestern Medicine, chief health officer of the Illinois Health and Hospital Association, and serving as managing deputy commissioner and chief innovation officer for the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Dr. Bhatt earned a B.A. from the University of Chicago; a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from the
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) from the University of Illinois at
Chicago; and a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as a
Zuckerman and Commonwealth Fund Minority Health Policy Fellow. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics.
Dr. Bhatt's work has earned the attention of top media outlets seeking his expertise and perspective. He is a
recipient of the Crains Chicago 40 Under 40 Award, the Harvard Kennedy School Alumni Award, a Presidential
Leadership Scholar, and part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
